THE A.S.H. GLIDER
For my senior capstone project I lead a team to design the Autonomous Sea Hawk (ASH), an Underwater Unmanned Autonomous Vehicle (UUAV). The team was tasked with engineering and manufacturing a novel seaglider type UUAV. The vehicle had to demonstrate both the sinusoidal motion typical of a seaglider over a distance of 18 meters as well as demonstrate the hydrodynamics necessary for obstacle avoidance. The project commenced over the 30 week period of the 2018-2019 academic year and resulted in the successful manufacturing of a functioning prototype. The project was funded by the Office of Naval Research and the Iowa Institute of Hydraulic Research. You can learn more about the project from viewing the final presentation and reading my final report both linked below.
